Detective Senior Constable Mick Palmer, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said a burglary and theft was committed at an engineering business last week in Saunders Street.
A wallet and mobile phone was stolen from an office at the business.
Police had a clear description of the alleged offender.
"We arrested, interviewed and charged a 35-year-old Colac man mid afternoon on Monday," Detective Senior Constable Palmer said.
"He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning for a bail/remand hearing," he said.
