There's a 90 per cent chance of showers and at 7am in Warrnambool it was raining.
It will be cloudy throughout Tuesday with the high chance of showers becoming less likely in the early afternoon.
There is the chance of a thunderstorm during this afternoon and evening.
Winds north-westerly will be 30 to 35 km/h turning west to south-westerly 30 to 40 km/h in the morning.
Wind gusts overnight were more than 50km/h in Warrnambool.
A cold front will move rapidly eastwards across the state today.
A ridge of high pressure is then expected to extend across northern Victoria in its wake on Wednesday, remaining over inland Victoria during Thursday as another cold front crosses Tasmania.
During Friday a high pressure centre will drift from south of Adelaide towards western Tasmania.
Warrnambool is expecting a top temperature of 18 degrees, Hamilton 17, Colac 18, Ararat 17, Casterton 18, Mortlake 18, Heywood 18, Portland 18 and Port Fairy 18.
