Warrnambool’s Tom Brocklehurst loves karaoke and he is sharing his passion with the community in the name of a good cause.
The 82-year-old is organising a karaoke event at Warrnambool’s Civic Green on Saturday March 30 from 2pm to 6pm with all proceeds going to the Kids with Cancer Foundation.
Mr Brocklehurst has been hosting karaoke events for seven years and hopes to get a huge crowd at the event.
“I want everybody to turn up,” he said.
“I’m hoping there will be a few hundred people there.”
Participants in Tom’s Karaoke will be able to choose from more than 6000 songs and there will be four microphones for those who want to sing with their friends. All it will take is a gold coin donation to sing a song.
Mr Brocklehurst lost his granddaughter Sally Brocklehurst to brain cancer last year and there will be many volunteers at the event rattling tins for the Kids with Cancer Foundation.
Mr Brocklehurst has been hosting free karaoke events in aged-care centres in the region.
