The 13-year-old Watson defeated older athletes to claim the Under 18 Ballarat Gift title at City Oval in Ballarat.
It was the second major win for Watson in as many weeks after she triumphed in the Parkdale Gift the previous Saturday.
Duynhoven also came away from the meeting with the spoils of success.
Duynhoven,19, won the open restricted gift and made the final of the open women’s gift.
It was the first time Duynhoven had made an open women’s gift final.
Both athletes are coached by Rob Duynhoven and Wayne Perry from the DPS (Duynhoven Perry Sprinting) stable.
Watson, a year eight student at Warrnambool College, said athletics was a labour of love.
“I train three times a week and enjoy racing and training,” she said.
“I like racing against the older girls, it’s good competition.”
Watson also takes part in three strength and conditioning sessions each week.
This is part of her involvement in Warrnambool College's sporting pathways program.
