Warrnambool City Council’s visitor economy manager David McMahon said there was a buzz around the city over the summer holidays “with so much going on throughout the entire month”.
“All indications so far are that the region and Warrnambool had a great peak visitor season with many operators reporting solid bookings through the season and encouragingly a good second half to the month of January,” he said.
“From a Surfside park perspective, we are very satisfied that the hard work in the off-peak season has paid off with solid bookings throughout January – especially the shoulder periods including Australia Day weekend – and February is going very well so far as well.”
Mr McMahon said warm weather “always played its part” and there was above average sunny days according to the Bureau of Meterology.
“Without a doubt the mix of new marketing tactics and new events have played a significant part in attracting new visitors, as well as ensuring we provide something fresh for our many returning guests,” he said.
“We provide a safe, friendly and affordable experience which is why so many families continue to choose to spend their precious summers with us. Over 10,000 visitors and locals experienced the world class Jurassic Creatures exhibition over the summer period.”
