The 18-year-old told The Standard, when she was drafted by Geelong at pick 24 at AFLW draft in October, she wanted to be selected for at least one game in her debut year.
That opportunity came on Saturday night against the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval.
Clarke made sure her debut was extra special when she joined the first game, first goal club after kicking the opening goal of the third term on the run from 35 metres out.
But, unfortunately the Cats could not get the victory against the reigning premiers, going down 2.4 (16) to 5.4 (34).
Cats star Kate Darby was one excited on-looker as Clarke scored her first goal.
“I was on the bench at the time (Clarke kicked the goal) and the whole bench got up,” the 28-year-old said.
“Obviously it was her debut and she is one of our young players and her playing as a defender it was good to see her come through and kick a goal."
Cavendish export and North Melbourne captain Emma Kearney ensured her side continued its good start to its inaugural AFLW season with a 7.6 (46) to 2.11 (23) victory over GWS, who are coached by fellow south-west export Alan McConnell.
The 29-year-old, who was the 2018 AFL Women's best and fairest winner, collected 18 disposals as the Kangaroos continued their unbeaten start on Friday night.
