More than 30 teams have set up tents and are completing lap after lap at Deakin University oval.
Chair of Warrnambool and District Relay for Life Fran Hynes said this year’s aim was to raise $85,000 for cancer research and programs which support people across the region.
“We’re here with the common goal of raising money to change and improve the outcomes for people with cancer,” she said.
Chris Trahar was at the Mad Hatters tent and fully embraced the event’s Disney theme wearing a pink tutu and Mad Hatter hat.
“It’s a great theme because I’ve just come back from Disney World in Florida,” she said.
Mrs Trahar said she had cared for her dad Ray Wilkinson who passed away from bowel cancer about four years ago.
“I was a carer for my dad three to four years ago and he passed away so this event means the world to me,” she said.
There was a candlelight ceremony held at 9pm which honours those who have died from cancer.
The event started at 6.30pm and finishes at 1pm on Saturday.
