WARRNAMBOOL Kart Club president Jason Cook will be one of many eager on-lookers, as his club prepares to host some of Australia’s top go kart drivers this weekend.

The Lake Gillear-based club will host round one of the Victorian Country Series, which has attracted close to 250 drivers in 13 classes from across the country, over two days of racing.
Cook said the scheduling of the round helped draw drivers heading to the Australian Karting Championships in Ipswich the following week.
“It will be a very high quality field with a lot of the drivers from the Australian champs driving this weekend,” he said.
“It’s a major drawing card to have racing time before their series kicks off. We have the likes of our own member Jackson Johnson and (Horsham's seven-time Australian Champion) Remo Luciani driving.”
The racing starts with practice at 8am on Saturday with qualifying set down for 2pm.
Sunday will be where the drivers put all of the previous day’s efforts on the line as they aim to secure an opening round victory, with 13 sets of two heats and a final scheduled to start at 8am.
