Dealer principal Steve Callaghan said that the whole of the business was constantly assessed by Mercedes-Benz, and ranked against the 32 regional dealers across Australia.
“This covers all categories of the dealership from sales, customer satisfaction and loyalty, the service department, parts sales and growth and the dealer standards and facilities,” Mr Callaghan said.
This is the first time that the dealership has received the national award, having collected the southern Australia regional award over ten years ago.
“We won retailer of the year in 2007 and 2008, but these were regional awards,” Mr Callaghan said.
“We have been knocking on the door for the last three or four years, so it is good to have gotten across the line.”
The announcement of the prize was made to all dealers by a video link chat on February 1. Mr Callaghan will receive an award trophy at a gala dinner and presentation night to be held in Melbourne.
He said that a celebration for all staff at Callaghan Motors will be held in early March.
Mr Callaghan said Mercedes-Benz constantly assess and compare the performance of their dealership chain, and providing ranking reports throughout the year.
Thank you to our customers because they are the ones that have helped us achieve this award

“We knew that we were travelling towards the top of the scorecard all year,” he said. “But in the last two months they don’t give you a scorecard.
“So we said to the team lets try to make every post a winner.
“It’s been good to recognize our staff, and to recognize our loyal customers. This is a real feather in our cap.”
“The luxury car market in Warrnambool was down last year, but we sold more Mercedes-Benz then the year before.
“This is a real credit to Ashley and his team.”
New car manager Ashley White received the Regional sales manager of the year award, and will attend the Shanghai Motor Show as part of his prize.
Spare parts manager Paul Noonan was recognised with a runner-up place for his category.
