A feel-good story this week was 66-year-old grandfather-of-three Ewan McKenzie winning his fourth Victorian super rod title on Saturday night – some 36 years after securing his first.
He is pictured above, captured by Robert Lake Photography, in the car he loves to work on and race in.
It was a weekend for memorable feats with Killarney cricketer Brendan Chatfield blasting his way to a career-best 257 in the Grassmere Cricket Association.
His impressive innings came just a few weeks after Woodford captain Nick Butters scored 244 in a Warrnambool and District Cricket Association match.
Warrnambool swimmer Sophie Thomas’ red-hot form continued with another win in the Shipwreck Coast Swim Series.
She’s enjoying a purple patch in ocean and pool events.
Her club, Warrnambool Swimming Club, also netted a big fish.
Of course, there was plenty of football and netball news including Koroit still seeking player cap points clarification and Warrnambool footballer Luke Cody eyeing a midfield move.
Here’s a selection of stories from the week that was.
Thanks,
