Aromas from various food stalls outside nearby businesses filled the air as people had a relaxed drink and chat.
Chairwoman Donna Gladman said the night included great live music from south-west artists Just Duo It, Nick Alexander, Willnko, Since Tuesday and Flynn Gurry. “People love the social aspect,” Ms Gladman said. “This is what we want Wunta to be about. It’s something a bit different that people can enjoy and have a social catch up.”
Dustin and Lisa Pickford, from Bushfield, enjoyed the festivities and kids activities with all three children, Alexis, 7, Indi, 5, and Lincoln, 2, having their faces painted. “It’s just the atmosphere,” she said. “The kids love music. We come down for the kids to enjoy the music and have some tea.”
She said they would attend other festival events including Movies Under the Stars on Saturday, screening Lincoln’s favourite film Ferdinand, and the Day at the Lake on Sunday.
The evening followed an equally popular Big Breakfast on Friday morning with 15 participants competing in the second annual Milk Run, which was won by Maddi Mahony-Gilchrist, 16. More than 500 people attended. “It was a really good atmosphere,” Ms Gladman said. “People are really supportive of the breakfast here. And everyone enjoyed their brekkie which is what we want.”
A large crowd is also expected to attend Saturday’s Jazz in The Gardens from 12pm – 5pm at the Botanic Gardens. For a full program go to wuntafiesta on Facebook.
