Starr will bring a fresh perspective from the dugout after taking over from former playing-coach Nadine McNamara in the off-season.
But she said the Bombers, who finished runners-up last year in the Hampden league, would only need a few tweaks to taste the ultimate success.
“I’m very much about strong one-on-one defence, so that will be a big focus for us,” Starr said.
“I won't be looking to drastically change everything Nadine has worked so hard to develop though. It will more be about building on what they've already learned.”
And Starr, 33, has already got a handy head-start.
The former Hamilton Kangaroos coach had exposure to Cobden guns Sophie Barr, Alicia Blain, Molly Hutt, Emily Finch and Remeny McCann while leading representative sides.
But one player Starr is keen to see more of is Jessica Wheadon, who took time off last year while pregnant before returning through Cobden’s division one side.
“It's exciting to have her back full-time,” she said.
“Jess brings great on-court leadership. She's very athletic, very agile, with a really good netball head.”
Starr said she also looked forward to forming a closer relationship with Cobden’s football teams, led by senior mentor Adam Courtney.
“With the new footy coach there’s been a really good linkage between the two sports,” she said.
“And I think that’s something Adam is really conscious of – trying to building that club atmosphere, which is really good.”
