The former Hawthorn and now Melbourne star was speaking at a press conference at the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday.

The Demons have headed north for a summer training camp.

When asked about thoughts of retirement, Lewis, who has played 43 games for the Demons after 264 with the Hawks, said he was enjoying pre-season with a full focus on the year ahead.

“It’s (possible retirement) one of those things I might get asked throughout the year but I can honestly answer that I haven't really thought about it,” Lewis said.

“I’ll just play it as we go and if that's it, then that's it, and if it’s not, then I’ll go around again. I’ve done everything that's been asked of me, I've been pretty fortunate in that sense, I haven't had any injuries, I’ve been able to train, so I haven’t felt any different to be honest. “

Melbourne heads into 2019 with high expectations, having played finals in 2018, the first time since 2006 they have climbed this high.  

Lewis said he expected the Demons to challenge again this season.

“Melbourne supporters can go to a game and expect to win, and if not, then be highly competitive,” he said.
