It had all the fun of truck drivers stripping down to their jocks and getting “oiled up” for a calendar photo shoot.

But it was a perhaps a “generational” photo that summed up the day best.
The photo featured a baby, his father and his grandfather beside a truck.
Woolsthorpe’s Peter Shiells who helped organise the calendar shoot said that photo was indicative of the theme of the day - mental health.
“It demonstrated that it affects everyone down the line,” he said.
The 2019 Aussie Truckers Calendar is set to be released with funds raised going to Let’s Talk, a non-profit organisation aiming to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
Mr Shiells, owner-operator of Shiells Transport, said the idea for the calendar came about because he shared a “silly photo” of a bloke washing a truck in his undies on Facebook a few weeks ago.
It was suggested he make a truckers calendar and he teamed up with photographer Lindy Annett and Katie Clark who both hail from transport families.
And it wasn’t long before a new Facebook post was out asking who was keen to do a photo shoot.
The call-out received a great response and two weeks ago 15 truck drivers from the south-west gathered at Dunkeld Racecourse for a photo shoot and participated in a presentation from Let’s Talk ambassadors.
The photo shoot also featured a new 909 Kenworth truck.
The Barry Maney Group offered it free of charge for the day.
“The guys enjoyed it,” Mr Shiells said.
“Everyone had a great time and learnt a lot.”
Mr Shiells has a Let’s Talk sign on one of his trailers.
He said truckers could experience a range of issues including financial hardship, family issues and the isolation of spending as much as 14 hours a day driving a truck.
He said it was rare for men to talk openly about these issues.
“A lot of the time the fellas don’t talk,” he said.
The calendars are being printed and should be available in about a week.
They can be ordered online or purchased at the truck show as part of the Heywood Wood Wine and Roses Festival on February 23.
