Roos coach Matt Dunn said “stability was the key” as they strived to improve on their 2018 seventh-place finish.
“We recognise your best recruits are the ones you’ve already got, so we were pretty keen to retain every player we had,” he said.
“There still might be one or two float out, you never know until the season’s started, but we were keen to keep some continuity there.”
Ruckman Jason McIntosh, who has joined Mininera and District league club Penshurst, is the Kangaroos’ only confirmed departure.
“Brad Thomas is contemplating retirement but he’ll just weigh up things,” Dunn said.
Former Cobden coach Levi Dare, who moved to Hamilton on Friday, will start training with his new teammates this week, while midfielder Jarrod O’Brien has returned after a one-year stint in the SANFL.
Luke Uebergang, who spent a season in the reserves following two knee reconstructions, will also push for a small forward role.
“There’s still a few players we’re talking to, so hopefully there’s a little bit more to add,” Dunn said.
The Kangaroos are unsure of the severity of Kane Quinn’s knee injury.
