A Koroit man has pleaded not guilty in a Warrnambool court to six charges of rape after he met a woman on Facebook.

Anthony Cook, 44, appeared in the Warrnambool County Court on Wednesday, when a jury of seven men and five women was empanelled and a trial started.
Crown prosecutor Andrew Moore said a woman met Mr Cook on Facebook in March, 2012, and they began a relationship.
He said it would be alleged that two separate incidents led to the charges and that the relationship started as loving, but Mr Cook became more and more controlling.
In July 2012, the woman went out with a woman friend for dinner and then to a hotel.
Mr Moore said Mr Cook was not impressed, said “only sluts went to hotels” and he was not pleased with the way his girlfriend was dressed.
Mr Cook was angry when he picked her up and took her back to her home.
The prosecutor claimed Mr Cook engaged in some sex acts to admonish or punish the woman and he did again that night even though the complainant did not consent.
On the second occasion in December, 2012, the woman had friends over for drinks, including her ex-partner and he stayed the night in a separate room.
Mr Cook is alleged to have confronted his girlfriend the next morning, abused her, told her their relationship was over, that he needed sex and even after she said she didn't want to, he forced her into sexual acts.
Mr Moore said the woman was crying and Mr Cook had her in a sleeper hold, the woman was having trouble breathing and was slapping Mr Cook's arm for him to let her go.
Mr Moore said the sex was utterly without consent and Mr Cook said he would always be the boss and rule the woman.
"She repeatedly said she didn't want to," he said.
After Mr Cook walked out, the woman sent a text message to her ex-partner and police were called.
It’s expected that a doctor and police officer will tell the court the woman had suffered bruising to her neck.
Mr Cook's barrister Fraser Cameron said his client terminated the relationship on the morning of December 9, 2012.
He said that after sex Mr Cook had given the woman the bad news.
"He felt she had lied to him, he did not trust her and he left the house," he said
Mr Cameron said his client only engaged in legal sex and denied all the other allegations ever happened. He said the case revolved around what happened behind closed doors.
Mr Cameron said it was normal sex while the prosecution claimed something far more grave and sinister.
The trial before Judge Mark Taft continues on Thursday.
