The Warrnamabool Gold skipper started her bowls career at Port Fairy 46 years ago in what was an historic time.

“I played at Port Fairy for 10 years and I was part of their last team that won the ladies A grade pennant,” Lock said.

“When I was at City Memorial we won a grand final against Port Fairy.

“Last year with Warrnambool we beat them in the finals so I do keep running into them.

“I always like to see them going well and they are having a good season.”

Port Fairy Gold’s season has been a successful one, it sits on top of the ladder after round 11 of the Western District Bowls Division Tuesday Pennant. 

But second-placed Warrnambool Gold are hot on its heels, even more so after winning the round 11 clash between the two.

Lock and her teammates used their home-green advantage to defeat Port Fairy Gold 93-57.

It was a comfortable win for Warrnambool Gold, who won two of the three rinks.

Lock said her team was playing strong bowls.

“It was a really good win, we are happy with how we bowled,” Lock said.

“We are thrilled to be in the top two, we communicate as a team and we get on well.

“We catch up each Monday for a bowl and to work out things we might need to change.”

While it was a big margin in match-of-the-round action, the close one on Tuesday was played out in Timboon.

The home team, Timboon Gold, was up against a Dennington Red team that habours finals hopes. 

It was a contest of extremes across the three rinks.

One rink produced a 19-19 draw, the next a 35-15 win to Timboon Gold and the final a 35-10 victory to Dennington Red, to give the visitors a 69-64 result. 

City Memorial Gold is in third place after it had a hard-fought 86-74 win over Lawn Tennis Green.

It was Gold’s seventh win for the season and has them just four points from top spot, while Green is struggling with just three wins.
