Men’s and women’s crews from Port Fairy competed in the Victorian Surf Rowers League Navy Series on Sunday.
The men’s crew, consisting of Shaun Murrihy, Scott Hetherington, Greg Dalton, Dean Dwyer and Paul Buchanan, finished third in a field of 13.
The Anglesea event was the last in the three-leg series, with previous legs held in Lorne and Ocean Grove.
Points were accumulated over the three rounds, with Port Fairy’s men finishing in second place overall, just one point away from the winning Lorne crew.
The women’s crew finished second on Sunday and was made up of Nicole Dwyer, Leonie Boyd, Megan Titmus, Brooke Green and Greg Dalton as sweep.
PFSLSC member Martina Murrihy said the weekend’s results were an outstanding achievement.
“The whole club is really proud of the success the men’s and women’s crew have had,” she said.
“They work so hard and are very determined so it is a good reward.”
The crews will compete in the Victorian Masters at Lorne on February 9.
