The John Houston-coached team, which played games in November and December, notched a two-wicket win against Barwon Rockets on Monday courtesy of batting duo Campbell Love (55) and Fletcher Cozens (54).
They will finish with matches in Melbourne on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Houston said it was “mathematically possible but very unlikely” the Waves would make finals, with improvement their main focus.
He praised Love (Brierly-Christ Church) and Cozens (Hawkesdale and Koroit) for their ability to read the situation against the Rockets.
Barwon made 189 with the Waves reeling in the total in the 49th over.
“We got a little behind the run rate,” Houston said.
“Campbell and Fletcher lifted the run rate and got it to around four which was manageable.”
