Sergeant Pamela Nix, of Hamilton police, said the offending driver then got out of the car and allegedly confronted and assaulted the other female driver.
Sergeant Nix said the primary school-aged children who were in the car when it was used to rear-ended the other vehicle were shaken by the incident but were uninjured.
She said the incident stemmed from a domestic situation.
The vehicle driven by the offending driver suffered the most damage in the crash.
A 37-year-old Hamilton woman has been charge with recklessly causing injury and driving in a manner dangerous.
She was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
