Here To There aided by a brilliant ride from Dean Yendall came down the outside to defeat Zebrinz and Golden Authority in the feature race at Camperdown.
“The pace was on from the start which suited Here To There,” Maher said. “It was a top ride by Dean. He just bided his time out the back and made his run at the right time.
“It’s a great win for Here To There’s owners. They have been very patient as we had a couple of minor issues with the horse but they are all sorted out.
“He’s a tough horse who has a top nature. I’ve got to give credit to our staff. The success of the stable is a great reward for all the hard work that the staff are putting in.”
Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, was impressed with the all-the-way win of All Too Royal.
Yendall shared the riding honours at Camperdown with Dean Holland. Both rode doubles. Yendall’s other winner was Sonaisali, while Holland was successful on Inala Max and Anova Belle.
Camperdown Turf Club manager Karen van Kempen said that they were happy with the numbers for the Cup this year.
“We have certainly hit 3,500 people and when the final gate numbers come in it could be more,” she said.
“The weather has turned it on for us, everyone is just sitting back relaxing and having a great day.
“There is a lot of people sitting up in the grandstand, this has freed up space around the course.”
