Former Mortlake leg-spinner Georgia Wareham will play for Melbourne Renegades in a Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) semi-final on Saturday.
The Renegades will play the Sydney Sixers at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney on Saturday afternoon.
Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat will play their semi-final at the same venue on Saturday morning.
The winning semi-finalists will contest the final on Australia Day.
Wareham has taken seven wickets in the Renegades 2018-19 WBBL campaign, including 2-19 against the Melbourne Stars on New Year’s Day.
Wareham’s success with the Renegades follows on from a whirlwind 2018 when she was part of the winning Australian World Cup Twenty20 team.
Former Russells Creek junior Dominic Bandara has completed a memorable week at the Tri-Grammar Cricket Festival in Brisbane.
Playing for Melbourne Grammar, Bandara played a key role in his team’s win over Sydney Grammar on Thursday.
Sydney Grammar made 6-354, a target Melbourne was able to run down, finishing with 5-355.
Bandara made 76 not out to play a crucial role in the run chase.
The game between Sydney and Melbourne is the oldest annual school game in the world, having begun in 1876.
Earlier in the week, Bandara made an unbeaten 117 against Brisbane Grammar, an innings that included six sixes.
