The ball dominated on day one of the West Warrnambool versus Port Fairy game at Davidson oval.
The Pirates were bowled out for 136, with the Panthers then staggering to 6-53 at stumps.
West Warrnambool captain Alastair Templeton said it was a testing day.
“It wasn’t a bad pitch but there was just enough in it to make it hard if you bowled in the right spot,” he said.
“Eleven wickets fell after tea. A lot of those were batsmen copping good ones they couldn’t do too much about.”
Jack Sunderland and Will Templeton took four wickets for the Panthers while Jason Perera took four for Port Fairy.
