The game of the round in first division on Saturday should be between third-placed City Red at home to the in-form fourth-placed Port Fairy Red.
In Tuesday pennant, Port Fairy Gold is sitting a game clear on the top of the ladder and should be able to account for eighth-placed Timboon at home.
In clubland, Terang’s newly crowned Men’s A Grade Singles champion is Kevin Johnson defeating Andrew Taylor. The penultimate end must have been interesting, with Taylor 22-24 down and holding a potential three shots and the game but Johnson knocked his closest bowl whilst measuring. Taylor could have replaced Johnson’s bowl to where he thought it had been moved from and then measured for 3rd shot but he agreed to play a final end locked at 24 shots apiece and ultimately lost the game 25 to 24.
City Memorial’s Men’s Club Singles champion is Gary Davey, winning with a strong performance over Wayne Hall.
Warrnambool’s Women’s Singles champion is Brenda Hawker after a convincing win over Maree Dalton. The Men’s Champion is Mark Bowles defeating Jon Klein 25 to 22. The Women’s Pairs final was also played during the week, with the combination of Brenda Hawker and Pat Boyd winning over Alison Grummett and Kathleen Brockett.
Dennington also completed its Men’s and Women’s Singles Championships. Glenn McNaughton defeated 16-time club champion Ian Quigley, 25 to 23, and Maureen Drennan claimed yet another title defeating Sheridan Barling, 25 to 21.
Division Singles Championships were also completed with both being very closely fought finals, Maureen Drennan (D’ton) defeating Kay Maddern (City) 25 to 22 and Les Johnson defeating fellow Koroit teammate Scott Boschen 25 to 23.
The Mixed Pairs final was won by Kevin Boyd and Brenda Hawker (W’Bool) defeating Glenn McNaughton and Gayle Talyor (D’ton) 13 shots to 7.
Starting this Tuesday night at 6 pm Warrnambool Bowls Club is holding a weekly open 2 bowls pairs competition with $500 prize money available each night.
