A Hamilton man has been charged following an assault on a woman in the CBD.

Hamilton police Sergeant Paul Stanhope said police received multiple calls about an incident in Hamilton on Wednesday.
He said a 38-year-old Hamilton man was arrested in Hamilton's Gray Street about 11.15am.
The offender allegedly assaulted a female victim, causing her to bleed from her nose and suffer cuts to the mouth.
Sergeant Stanhope said the pair were known to each other.
"It caused a bit of commotion in the CBD," he said.
"We don't believe the victim sought medical attention.
"The offender was charged with recklessly cause injury and unlawful assault. He was also charged in relation to a previous matter on the same victim."
The man was bailed to appear in Hamilton Magistrates Court on February 20.
