The flies said the valued group in the community won a cash prize for its float in the New Years Eve procession and kindly donated the proceeds to the Port Fairy Hospital.
The Men’s Shed also played a vital role in the Moyneyana Festival by producing countless wooden toys for children to play with and buy on Fiddlers Green last Friday.
AWE: Plenty of high profile celebrities from various parts of life called Port Fairy home over the busy Christmas-New Year period. One such person was former Geelong footballer Barry Stoneham. Stoneham played more than 240 games for the Cats.
The bar flies said a Port Fairy businessman, who just happens to be a one-eyed Geelong fan was spellbound when the former star walked into his café. The flies are suggesting there may have been a hefty discount to the bill when the account had to be settled.
FRUSTRATING: With the busy holiday period comes stupid driving from motorists. One very frustrating thing that often occurs is drivers driving over the double lines in Sackville Street to get a parking spot.
The stupidity is often done by motorists visiting the town who don’t understand that driving over the double lines is an offence and they can be fined.
MORE: The Moyneyana Festival is in full swing with more free activities on offer for all members of the family on Fiddlers Green. The hard-working committee has done an amazing job with planning activities for the busy holiday period this year.
