Raymond Le Clezio, 41, of Shakespeare Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to breaching a family intervention order and assault and drug-related offences.
He was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
He has already served 59 days in custody on remand.
The court heard Le Clezio had an extensive and violent criminal history that included 38 assault-related charges, 13 of which were against the victim.
On August 21 Le Clezio was at a Hamilton caravan park, where he resides with the victim, when an argument broke out between the two.
Police said the pair were smoking cannabis to celebrate moving to Hamilton from Geelong.
Witnesses allegedly heard banging and yelling from the caravan about 8pm.
Le Clezio was overheard shouting “I will f**** smash you”.
The argument continued over a couple of hours.
A concerned witness called police who attended the caravan park and spoke to the victim.
She said that inside the caravan Le Clezio raised his fists, pushed her and threw a bong at her.
Police said the victim was in tears and feared that Le Clezio would try to kill her.
A quantity of cannabis was located and seized.
Le Clezio was arrested and conveyed to Hamilton police station.
He told police he threw the bong at a wall and not at the victim.
Police said the victim did not make a formal statement.
