A big crowd attended the opening of the show on Thursday night at the Senior Citizens Clubrooms on Barclay Street.
Show coordinator Keith Gibson said he was thrilled with the opening night and looked forward to the show ahead.
“I thought it was one of the better openings we’ve had,” he said.
Warrnambool’s Judy Rauert took out the major award for best painting of the exhibition with South West Vista and also won best oil painting with Meeting of the Waters.
Mrs Rauert said she liked the Lions Art show because it was on for more than a week.
“It’s a great opportunity for artists to have their works up for an extended period of time for people to come through and have a look.”
“A lot of exhibitions only go for a weekend.”
Meanwhile, best watercolour went to Jan Grenfell, best acrylic to Vic Irving and the judge's special award to Wilma Williams.
Jo Howell had best pastel of the exhibition and the best other medium award went to Jeanette Toller-Bond.
Mrs Toller-Bond is a member of the Port Fairy Textile Art Group which has contributed significantly to the show and there is a room dedicated to textiles.
The group created designs to the Moyneyana Festival theme, 'Our Playground'.
Years 3 and 4 students at Port Fairy Consolidated School also created artwork to that theme and their work is on display at the show.
Mr Gibson said visitors to the show include tourists on their summer holiday, art connoisseurs and people just looking for something to do.
He said funds raised from the art show would go towards community projects.
The show is on until Saturday January 5.
