A “significant” amount of cash and about 45 grams of ice were found in the vehicle parked in Menzies Street on Saturday afternoon.
Police officers had been patrolling the area when they noticed a male sitting in the parked car and decided to investigate.
Acting Sergeant Blake Amos, of the Warrnambool police, said the officers searched the vehicle and made the discovery.
“It’s a significant arrest,” Acting Sergeant Amos said.
“It’s good to see these drugs off our street, especially this time of the year.
“It was excellent work by the police members to detect this male.”
The man, aged in his 40s, has been charged with trafficking a drug of dependence and possessing the proceeds of a crime.
The 45 grams of ice has a street value of about $13,500, and the amount of money found was described as “significant”.
The man was remanded in custody to appear in Warrnambool Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In other news, a boat fell off a trailer and hit a parked car in Portland on Saturday when a drink-driver three times over the limit lost control of his vehicle. The Portland man, aged in his 40s, was on his way home from a fishing trip about 9pm when he clipped the centre divide in the road and lost control of the vehicle.
Acting Sergeant Leah Sullivan, of Portland police, said that when the driver tried to correct the vehicle, the boat came completely off the trailer.
Acting Sergeant Sullivan said the impact of the boat hitting the parked car caused minor damage to the right-hand side of the vehicle which had been parked in Edgar Street.
She said the accident also caused extensive damage to the bottom of the six-metre fibreglass boat, which police estimate was worth about $50,000.
The driver returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.156, more than three times the legal limit.
The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, will now face drink-driving charges.
