The pint-sized golfer is following his famous dad’s footsteps.
The American-based Leishman, who is home in Australia with his wife and three children for the Christmas break, said his sons Harvey, 6, and Ollie, 5, had caught the golf bug.
“My boys are obsessed with golf at the moment so we’ve actually been out here a couple of times this week already,” he said during a charity round at Warrnambool on Thursday.
“We played nine (holes) yesterday. My oldest boy Harvey had an eight on this hole, a par five, and my little fella Ollie, he is just out here for the social aspect of it, he just loves it.”
Leishman will play two tournaments in Hawaii to kick-start his 2019 campaign after leaving Warrnambool on December 30.
“The first one is a champions-only event so there’s only about 30 players which play that and the next one is the Sony Open which is a full field,” he said.
“I should be refreshed and hopefully I get a chance to do a bit of practice here – the guys in America don’t generally get a chance to practice in the winter.”
The world number 20 said his expectations were high and he wanted to “stay confident and keep kicking goals” after one win on the PGA Tour – the CIMB Classic in October – in 2018.
“The year before was better with the two wins but this was my most consistent year,” Leishman said.
“It was good to have a lot of chances to win.
“It would be nice if I could have as many chances to win next year – that’s the plan.”
First Leishman plans to make the most of his extended time in Warrnambool after a brief visit home before the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne last month.
“Hopefully the weather gets a bit warmer and we can go to the beach,” he said.
“There will be a fair bit of time at Lake Pertobe and the kids playing with their cousins too.”
