Detective Senior Constable Mick Palmer, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said the lake was searched mid afternoon on Tuesday after a burglary on December 4.
Jewellery and cash valued at $2500 was stolen during the break-in.
Information led police to organise Tuesday's search and items of jewellery were recovered.
Detective Senior Constable Palmer said the elderly woman victim did not know yet that her jewellery had been found.
"We'll go and tell her today," he said.
"There were items of high sentimental value, including brooches and necklaces, so she'll be very happy."
An offender entered the woman's home through a rear door on December 4 before making off with the items.
Lines of inquiry led to a Queen Street home in Colac being raided by police officers on Tuesday.
An 18-year-old man was arrested, interviewed, charged with burglary and theft and he has been bailed to appear at the Colac Magistrates Court on February 11.
Detective Senior Constable Palmer said the victim had been left traumatised by the home invasion.
He said information gleaned during the investigation led to the lake being searched.
"There were 10 members of the Colac SES involved. They did an outstanding job," he said.
