The game was delicately poised with Nestles on 4-93 from 53 overs, in pursuit of the Bulls’ score of 155. Young guns Jacob Hetherington and Jackson Couch were at the crease for the Factory when play came to a close.
The two looked composed in the face of some good bowling from the experienced Brierly-Christ Church pairing of Jason Mungean and Mark Murphy.
Nestles top-order batsman, Alex Strauch, had earlier come and gone, making eight while batting at number three.
Strauch, 35, is in his second season at Nestles, having moved to Warrnambool from Melbourne.
It is players such as Couch and Hetherington that has Strauch glad of his choice of Warrnambool and District Cricket Association clubs.
“We are a really young side, there are a few of us older blokes but a lot more young blokes,” he said.
“I haven’t came here looking to dominate, I am a bits and pieces type player and if I can help the young blokes out in any way then that is great.
“It’s a pretty talented group so the future looks bright.” Strauch said the wet weather had arrived at a bad time, with wins in two-day games vital for all teams in the competition.
He said the longer format looks to best suit Nestles.
“We had a good win against Port Fairy in a Twenty20 but I still think we are a two-dayer team,” he said.
“Our batting still needs some work.
“Our bowling is our strength, getting the chance to bowl 80 overs is something we can make work for us.”
