“It’s the first time Favonski has run at Flemington,” he said.
“It can be a daunting experience for a horse having a run down the straight, so I decided to get Ollie on board.
“She (Favonski is) jumping in class to metropolitan company but I’m confident her chances will be helped with Ollie.
“She deserves a crack in the city after winning two of her last three runs.
“I’m hoping the track is not too wet because her best runs are on good tracks.”
Mumbles, a stablemate of Favonski, runs in a restricted $100,000 three-year-old race for Bowman with in-form jockey Jordan Childs aboard.
Childs rode two winners at Warrnambool on Thursday.
“Mumbles shows a bit of promise,” he said. “His chances will be helped if the track is a bit soft.”
Fellow Warrnambool trainers Aaron Purcell, Peter Chow and Symon Wilde have runners at Flemington as does Darren Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable.
Winslow-raised Ciaron Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, has the first starter Three Legs In and Naantali.
