Predicted wet weather on Friday night will not stop the festivities when the Cobden community puts a difficult year behind it for a Christmas party in Curdie Street.

“The idea behind this year is to show Cobden’s resilience,” Cobden Business Network committee member Kelvin White said.
“This is a social occasion where everybody can all gather together and celebrate that we have survived the worst. We are really keen to hop into 2019 with all guns firing.
“It is definitely a community focused event, but we do invite visitors to join us.”
A wide range of events will be run from 5pm, including a phantom race call involving local businesses and identities by Drew Semmens at 7.15pm.
Free activities including a jumping castle, rides and face-painting will be provided for the kids, and the South West District Restoration group will put on a display of their projects.
Cobden Primary School choir and band will provide entertainment including Christmas carols through the event.
Christmas on Curdie event will run between 5pm-8pm on Friday night. Curdie Street will be closed to traffic, between Victoria Street and Walker Street, from 4.30pm-8.30pm.
