A former Warrnambool man charged with stealing a $500,000 Porsche and then trying to continually bait police into a chase has had his case adjourned until May next year.

Dylan Christopher Stone, 26, now of Alisma Boulevard, Cranbourne, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court via a video link with prison on Monday.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Kevin Mullins said Mr Stone had a history of similar offending, involving high-speed police pursuits across south-west Victoria.
“It’s his MO. He loves it,” he told magistrate Franz Holzer.
The prosecutor said that three Porsches were stolen from Wheelers Hill between December 15 and 19 last year valued at $1.3 million, and Mr Stone had been charged with stealing one of those vehicles.
He said Mr Stone was then captured on security camera footage putting fuel in the Porsche at a Warrnambool service station on December 21.
Senior Constable Mullins said that at 3.20am that day the Porsche was seen by two police officers at another service station.
One officer knew Mr Stone and they tried to block the luxury car but Mr Stone accelerated away at high speed.
The police officers went inside the service station to get security camera footage and Mr Stone returned in the Porsche, revving it in an attempt to bait the officers into a pursuit.
He tooted the hoon, revved the engine and spun the wheels of the Porsche before taking off at extreme speed.
One of the police officers said he had never seen a car go faster and estimated the speed at 200km/h in the 60km/h zone.
He said if Mr Stone had crashed at that speed he and his girlfriend would have been killed.
A lawyer for Mr Stone said his client had spent a total of 306 days in custody since being arrested on February 7.
The lawyer said identity was the key issue in the Porsche case and his client had no charges in Warrnambool since 2012.
The magistrate said that police alleged significant offending which placed the community at potential risk.
He said that if he was sentencing Mr Stone, he would hand down a jail sentence of more than 12 months.
Mr Stone requested the charges be booked in for a hearing, which has been scheduled for May 9 next year.
Mr Stone has been charged with theft, failing to stop on request, handling stolen goods, reckless conduct endangering life and serious injury, unlicensed driving, driving at a dangerous speed and driving in a dangerous manner.
