It is understood police officers had a lot of difficulty tracking down any of Mr Blachford's family members.
A sister commented on a Facebook post put up by Victoria Police, saying: "Rest in peace brother".
It’s believed Mr Blachford had recently moved to Warrnambool.
Monday 11.30am: Warrnambool man Timothy Devey has been remanded in custody, charged with murder, until May 31 next year.
Mr Devey, 51, of Garden Street, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday morning for a filing hearing where he did not apply for bail.
Lawyer Amanda Chambers said a brief service date had been set of April 1 with a committal mention scheduled for late May.
She said Mr Devey was withdrawing from alcohol and cannabis use and he had been assessed by a forensic medical officer.
Ms Chambers said her client suffered from a number of conditions and took medications.
Magistrate Franz Holzer remanded Mr Devey in custody until May 31 and adjourned the case until that date.
At 7.50am: The victim of a fatal stabbing in Warrnambool on Friday night was a 45-year-old former Geelong man.
It is understood that police have had difficulty locating members of the man's family.
He had only recently moved to Warrnambool.
Police have not released the man’s name.
Saturday, 9.15pm: A 51-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder following a fatal stabbing in Warrnambool on Friday night.
Investigators arrested a Warrnambool man early Saturday morning.
He has been remanded to appear in Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 10.
At 10am: A man aged in his 40s, who died after receiving stab wounds in an incident on Friday night, had only recently moved to Warrnambool.
Emergency services were called to a Cramer Street address about 8.30pm Friday where the man was located with life-threatening injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to the Warrnambool Base Hospital where he died about 3am Saturday.
Victoria Police homicide squad detectives have now arrived in Warrnambool and taken over an investigation.
Major crime scene investigators are also forensically examining the Cramer Street address.
At 7.30am: A 51-year-old Warrnambool disability pensioner is currently in custody at the Warrnambool police station after the death of another man overnight.
There was an incident in a Cramer Street unit about 9pm on Friday night.
During that incident the alleged victim is believed to have suffered a stab wound to his torso.
Police were called and a number of witnesses have been assisting officers with their inquiries.
A knife has been recovered by officers.
The disability pensioner has then gone home to his Garden Street address where a siege-type situation developed.
Victoria Police critical incident response team members travelled to Warrnambool overnight.
There were negotiations with the man and at 6.40am Saturday the man was arrested and taken into custody.
Homicide squad detectives are currently on their way to Warrnambool to start their investigations.
It is understood the injured man suffered a significant wound to his torso and died about 3am.
No details are known about the deceased man at this stage.

Details are extremely sketchy at this stage but it is believed a man died about 3am.
