Police said the tradesman suffered a medical condition while working in the roof space of The Union Club Hotel in Murray Street about on Tuesday.
The tradesman was installing beer lines.
Police, ambulance, SES and CFA attended.
Colac SES unit controller Steve Tevelein said the man had been working in the roof for about two-hours when he became lethargic and exhausted.
“He physically couldn’t get himself out of the roof cavity,” he said.
“His movement was restricted so we ended up getting on top of the roof and taking a sheet of iron off before physically pushing and pulling him out.
“We then lowered him down via a stair case. He was trapped for about half-an-hour, maybe less.”
A spokeswoman for Ambulance Victoria said a man aged in his 50s was taken by road ambulance to Colac Public Hospital.
“He was in a stable condition with minor injuries to his arm and leg,” she said.
