The talented all-rounder, who is 10 games into his debut season with the club, returned to the game after a three-year break.
Ryan admitted on Saturday that with seven wickets and 45 runs to his name he was yet to produce his best cricket, but was confident it was not too far away.
The 24-year-old helped his new club claim the Warrnambool and District one-day premiership last month, though said he believed he would have more impact in the two-day matches.
“I am just getting back into a bit of the rhythm and just trying to find a role in the team,” he said.
“I have either opened or come on first change, it just depends on what over the captain wants me at. I will probably bowl more overs in the two-dayers so trying to get the body right for that.
“The red ball probably swings a bit more and obviously you get a bit more of a spell like if you’re bowling well you might get 10 overs compared to four overs like in the Twenty 20s, so it will be a bit more helpful.”
Ryan admitted he had some physical challenges so far this season after his extended break from cricket.
The opener bowler said he spoke to the club about some of those and with the help of co-coach Andrew Thomson he had altered his bowling action in a bid to return to his best.
“The work I am doing is just to keep the body right as bowling take a lot out of you, so we are just trying to do a little and build into it.,” he said.
“I was just complaining about a sore back and hip and that kind of stuff and he (Thomson) got the video out and recorded my action and gave me a few little pointers.
“It was just to open my body up more when I bowl and less of a twisting motion so hopefully that keeps the body right for the rest of the year.”
