Now in its third year the free community event will launch the town’s festive spirit between 3pm and 5pm on December 2.
The event is sponsored by The Koroit Irish Festival and Koroit Lions Club and will feature Keelan Mast and Angela Kenna and a range of community choirs.
2003 Australian Danny Boy Champion Barbara Brooks will also be performing a moving rendition of Oh Holy Night.
Koroit Irish Festival committee member Adele MacDonald said organisers were looking forward to bringing the community together for the family-friendly occasion.
“We are very excited to bring Christmas cheer to the town and get together as one to celebrate the start of the festive season,” she said.
“We have some wonderful talent to showcase, including the kids from the local schools and kindergarten.”
Mrs McDonald said the venue was also a drawcard.
“The old Koroit Railway station along the Rail Trail is the perfect setting for this event.
“The platform serves as the ready built stage and the beautiful gardens are ideal for families to set out their picnic rugs and chairs, sit back, and enjoy the entertainment.”
Mrs McDonald said with Christmas less than a month away the event also offered a unique opportunity.
“This is also a chance to get your hands on a famous Lions Club Christmas Cake,” she said.
Headlining act Ms Brooks said she was looking forward to singing at her hometown carols.
“The Koroit Carols by the Railway has become a much anticipated event amongst many locals,” she said.
“It’s the perfect event to get together with family and friends and be filled with the excitement of Christmas.
“I feel very honoured to be performing in front of such a happy audience at such a special event.”
Mrs McDonald said she hoped community members would bring picnic rugs or chairs, food, drinks and Christmas cheer to Sunday’s event.
“And with any luck there’ll be an Irish Santa making a guest appearance during the evening,” she said.
“Families can take advantage of the great location by walking or riding along the Rail Trail to the event.”
Koroit Carols by the Railway will be held at the Koroit Railway Station from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday.
