With the festive season around the corner, Warrnambool kids who want to write to Santa are being encouraged to get in nice and early so he can respond before the big day.
Australia Post expects over 150,000 letters to the North Pole this year and for the first time is offering a large print service for families with children who have low vision.
Warrnambool Australia Post senior postal officer Amanda Kirkwood said Santa Mail was not only a cherished Christmas tradition but also a fun way for children to practice their letter writing skills.
“The kids love the magic of posting their letter and knowing it’s going to reach Santa at the North Pole and for me personally it’s incredibly rewarding to share in the joy,” she said.
“My daughter Florence, even at two, was very eager today to post her letter asking Santa for a doll’s house. And I think given kids can now track their letters online just adds to building the excitement as they can watch it on its journey.”
To take part, send your festive letters to Santa, North Pole, 9999 with a 65-cent Christmas stamp on the front of the envelope (include large text here request if needed) and your name and return address on the back so Santa knows where to send his reply.
Letters can be placed in any dedicated Santa Mail box or red street post box, with families encouraged to lodge their letters before December 14 so Santa can reply before loading up his sleigh.
Families are also encouraged to pick up and fill out the free Santa Mail postcards at participating Post Offices.
