Yogi, trained by Darren Weir, is owned by Dance, a former Warrnambool resident who heads Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock which races the six-year-old.
“It’s time Yogi had a break,” he said.
“He’s run some really good races in the spring. He just needs the pace on in his races for him to show his best.
“’Weiry’ will set him for the Sydney Cup in April.
“I think Yogi is a better horse when there is a bit of give in the track and with any luck we may get that for the Sydney Cup.
“Yogi has a great following and is very popular due to his name.”
Yogi has won seven races from 28 starts.
Weir had two other winners on the big 10-race program at Sandown.
Fifty Stars is trained from his Warrnambool stable while the impressive Ringerdingding is stabled at Ballarat.
Winslow-raised trainer Ciaron Maher produced two second-placings in feature races.
Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, ran second with Bons Away in the Doveton Stakes and Dal Harraild in the Zipping Classic.
