Two international tourists were trapped in a hire car for about 45-minutes after it crashed on the New Cooriemungle Road this morning.
Timboon police Leading Senior Constable Glenn McDuff said the driver failed to negotiate a straight road and lost control of a hire car about 10.30am on Saturday.
“The Nissan Pulsar sedan landed on its side and the two occupants, a male and female, were unable to free themselves,” he said.
“The main concern was stopping the vehicle from falling onto its roof or back onto its wheel.
“With the assistance of the Cobden and Port Campbell SES, as well as surrounding CFA stations, the vehicle was secured and the occupants were extracted.
“Both appeared to have suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Warrnambool Base Hospital for observation.”
The vehicle, which was extensively damaged, was towed from the scene.
Leading Senior Constable McDuff said investigations were ongoing.
Anyone with information should call Timboon police on 5598 3026 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
