The 19-year-old is making a mark in his role as as an all-rounder at Nestles in the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association (WDCA).
His strong start to the season has been rewarded with selection in the Country Week training squad.
While Hetherington is keen for success with the Factory, he also has an international venture ahead of him.
“I found a club in England to play at so I am heading over in April,” Hetherington said.
“I’m really looking forward to it, it should be good fun and playing in different conditions should help my cricket.”
While still a teenager, Hetherington is in his fifth season of division one cricket and is a leader in a youthful Nestles team. The six one-dayers to start the season have produced just one win for the Factory and Hetherington is keen to get a win in today’s Twenty20 encounter against West Warrnambool.
“Our batting has let us down so far, it’s been a tough start to the season,” he said.
“Hopefully we can get another win and build some momentum.”
