The founding member of 60s folk-influenced pop quartet The Seekers will perform in the chapel of the iconic south-west building on December 8.
The solo concert will feature several of the band’s most popular hits including Georgy Girl which made the group the first in Australia to reach a number one hit in the USA.
Event organiser Eileen Gale said securing Potger’s performance was a coup for the convent.
“If we can sell out this concert it allows us to attract a high-calibre of performers in the future.
“Our opera event in May sold out and so too did our cabaret performance in June so I’m fairly confident we can do the same with Keith.”
Ms Gale said she was encouraging those attending the two Saturday concerts to dress appropriately.
“We want everyone to dress for the 60s,” she said. “Have a bit of fun with it.”
First time visitors to the 1907-built convent were also in for a treat, Ms Gale said.
“The chapel fits 70 which is an intimate setting allowing the audience to really interact with the performer,” she said.
“I see the convent as a very unique venue for high-end performances.”
The event will include pre-dinner drinks and nibbles in the foyer, canapes and a grazing table at intermission as well as chocolates and late drinks following the performance.
