V/Line reported the 7.30am Southern Cross to Warrnambool service was delayed 17 minutes after a truck struck a level crossing boom arm at Stoneyford’s Cobden Road.
The 9.25am Warrnambool to Southern Cross service was held at Camperdown station for about 20 minutes.
A V/Line signal employee was in the area and had temporarily repaired the boom arm by 10.25am. Traffic management was in place to enable the safe passage of vehicles.
The 6.06am Melbourne bound service was also delayed due to track congestion in the Geelong area caused by a delayed freight service.
The 9.25am Warrnambool to Southern Cross was held at Camperdown Station for 13 minutes until being given the all clear by emergency services to continue through the crossing at a safe speed.
Meanwhile, buses will replace trains and journeys could take an extra 50 minutes this weekend as V/Line works on the line.
Trains from Warrnambool to Southern Cross Station will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey as track works are conducted on the line.
A V/Line spokesman said a combination of track, signal and level crossing maintenance will be completed over the two days.
“These works are important for ensuring we can continue to run trains reliably and safely,” he said.
Some coaches to Geelong will depart 15 minutes earlier than the train timetable to meet trains at Geelong.
Trains will run from Southern Cross to Geelong, connecting with coaches from Geelong to Warrnambool.
The train services will operate as per the normal timetable.
V/Line has urged passengers travelling from Warrnambool to allow an additional 50 minutes to their journey.
A temporary timetable can be found here.
