The stud won the title on Saturday with an under 1.5 year old Southdown ram. 

Its success at Koroit was with a separate contingent of sheep to that which it took to the Warrnambool show and its ram that won the Supreme Champion title was making its debut to the show ring.

There were seven exhibitors representing four breeds in an increased quality line up of 40 entries in the Koroit Show sheep competition, with multiple representation in the Poll Dorset, Romney and Southdown breeds.

In other developments in the sheep industry, the WoolPoll on the amount of the wool levy paid by wool producers is to go to a preference count for the first time in its history after none of the options put to woolgrowers received the required 50 per cent majority on the first count.

Australian Wool Innovation said it had been advised by the returning officer, Link Market Services, the vote between the option of a 1.5 per cent levy and a two per cent levy was very close, with the counting of preferences needed to determine the final outcome.  

The WoolPoll Panel was to meet this week to endorse the process of counting preference votes.

AWI chief executive said it was encouraged by the strong level of participation in WoolPoll 2018, with 13,506 votes cast, representing 28.67 per cent of individual voters and 55.92 per cent of total votes.
