The charitable person, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated “a substantial amount” to the group after thieves stole one of its charity tins at Gateway Shopping Plaza on Saturday.
The estimated $600 collected in the poppy appeal tin on the eve of Remembrance Day has not been recovered.
The two elderly women involved in the incident were “still a bit shaken,” Mr Miles said. “But it just goes to show there are still some good people out there.”
Police have interviewed persons of interest in this case.
