Detective Senior Constable Richard Hughes, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said unknown offenders gained entry to a property at Warrnambool’s Nicholls Drive between 6.30pm Tuesday and 7am Wednesday.
He said a 22-year-old female victim returned home to find her bedroom window had been forced open with a screw driver.
The house was ransacked. An Apple laptop computer and jewellery were stolen.
Senior Constable Hughes said the jewellery had sentimental value as it belonged to the victim’s deceased grandmother.
“The young victim is very upset and is pleading with the public for any information as she just wants the jewellery back,” he said.
The victim was not home at the time.
Anyone with information should call Detective Senior Constable Richard Hughes on 5560 1333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
