The 22-year-old has advanced through to the second round after she won her first fight at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation World Championships in Bahrain on Monday night.
Smith, competing at her second championships, won the match against Olha Volkova of the Ukraine with a second round TKO (technical knockout).
The referee stopped the match as Volkova was not fighting back on the ground and due to strikes from Smith.
The Australian representative and her coach, Warrnambool’s David Gibb of Spartan Mixed Martial Arts, will now prepare for their second battle.
Smith is set to meet with Findland’s Janika Antinmaa Antinmma as she looks to progress one step closer to claiming the world championship.
The week-long tournament will end on Sunday.
