The picturesque track is situated in front of a stunning backdrop of Mount Sturgeon.
Young Professionals Warrnambool are hosting their regular marquee, which is always popular with young punters.
Committee member Steve Aberline said YPW was offering a bus and marquee package for $75. Drinks and a barbecue lunch are included and music is courtesy of Gault McGluggage. Mr Aberline advised racegoers to visit the Young Professionals Warrnambool Facebook page for booking and payment options.
“Our marquee was packed to the rafters last year with 100 plus attendees,” Mr Aberline said. “We have had a large amount of inquiry so booking in as soon as possible is essential.”
Dunkeld Race Club president Edward Blackwell said all packages were sold out.
“It’s been really popular this year, we sold out of marquee spaces about three weeks ago,” he said.
“General admission tickets continue out the door. We have sold over 4000 tickets already.”
Mr Blackwell said they were expecting a crowd of about 10,000.
“There is an eight-race card and the feature race is the WIlliam Thomson Cup over 1800 meters,” he said.
“There will also be five live acts playing around the course and free kids activities run by Kelly Sports including ball games and jumping castles. It’s that time of year for Christmas parties and end-of-season football and netball trips, and the end of VCE. Another draw-card is the hotly contested fashions on the field competition. We usually have 100 or so entrants in the lady of the day. This year we have about $8000 worth of prizes.”
Mr Blackwell said the club was always mindful of guests getting home safely.
“Please abide by the road rules,” he said. “There will be plenty of police about. We also take a zero tolerance approach on anti-social behavior.” Gates open at 11am.
